最近美國有艾琳颶風(tropical cyclone Irene) ,台灣有南瑪都颱風(typhoon Nanmadol)
讓我想起了一句常講的英文

hope for the best and assume the worst
or
(hope for the best and prepare for the worst)
(抱最好的希望; 做最壞的打算)

也讓我想到嚴長壽說的：「抱最大的希望，為最多的努力，做最壞的打算。」

我們中文常講的『做最好的準備, 做最壞的打算。』英文也可以這樣翻。
