小小咪與黃昏時的士林官邸; CKS Shilin Residence Park

到過士林官邸好幾次,不過都是早上,今天特地下午出發

整個感覺很不一樣,多了些悠閒與慵懶

小小咪整個也很放鬆地跑來跑去

在夕陽的餘暉下

涼風徐徐吹拂

We used to go to CKS Shilin Residence Park in the mornings,

but this time, we left for there in the dusk.

It was a very different feeling, more relaxing and lazier than before.

My son also enjoyed the cool wind and ran happily in the golden twilight.

彈珠汽水的英文是 marble soda


Marble soda is a carbonated beverage, and its bottle is made of glass and sealed with a marble.
(彈珠汽水是一種碳酸飲料，瓶子是玻璃做的，用彈珠封住瓶口。)

黏人的英文 be clingy

黏人的英文用 be clingy來表示
如 She is so clingy.   She clings to her boyfriend every day.
如果指東西很黏,則要用sticky

『 藍色小精靈』 (The Smurfs)

最近的電影『 藍色小精靈』 (The Smurfs)，勾起了不少兒時回憶，

印象最深刻的就是邪惡巫師(the evil wizard) 賈不妙 ( Gargamel), 

鬍子老爹（Papa Smurf）,  小美人（Smurfette）, 及 小笨蛋（Clumsy Smurf)了。

Gargamel這個字的發音很容易讓人想到gargle(漱口或漱喉)

而在名詞後面加上ette，則是指女性(female)的意思，如小美人（Smurfette）, 

clumsy這個單字是指笨拙的(heavy and ungraceful in movement)，中文也常翻成笨手笨腳的。

 

 

California Grill 加州燒烤堡

上上禮拜一，坐捷運到古亭站時，
突然想起了三年多前去吃的一家美式漢堡店，
決定再次探訪。我從師大圖書館後的小門前去永康街，
這家店真的很低調，生意很好，但招牌一點都不顯眼，
和三年前一樣，我又走過頭了，
但美味的直覺及記憶讓我很快回頭找到這家店。
沒帶相機所以無法拍下所點的美味Teriyaki Chicken Breast漢堡及服務生甜美的笑容
但帶回了一張DM

這次點的是商業午餐159元，有漢堡、薯條及紅茶，口味很道地，從一進門就看到一桌外國老夫妻及陸陸續續進來的ABC及外國人就可猜想受歡迎的程度了。

這是香港最大的維多利亞公園(Victoria Park)，從旁邊的柏寧酒店 (The Park Lane Hotel) 19樓看下去的夜景

相同的地點時，白天看時是如此的景象，香港的skyscrapers(摩天大樓)真的是令人印象深刻

兔熱病的英文, tularemia, rabbit fever

前幾天新聞報導, 國內首度發現兔熱病病例
在北美洲、歐洲常見的兔熱病相關英文如下:


兔熱病 (tularemia) (rabbit fever)

Zoonotic disease (transmitted from animals to humans but not humans to humans)
人畜共通之細菌性疾病


Transmitted animals: fowl, fish, rodents, and mammals

受傳染的動物: 鳥禽, 魚, 囓齒類動物及哺乳類


Mode of transmission: bites, inhalation, direct contact

傳染的途徑: 叮咬, 吸入灰塵, 及直接接觸


Symptoms: fever, headache, rash, and swollen lymph nodes

症狀: 高燒, 頭痛, 起紅疹及淋巴結腫大
